Cambelts

How often should I change my cambelt?

It very much depends on the manufacturer – some manufacturers recommend changing your cambelt every 40,000 miles while others suggest every 100,000. You should be able to find the manufacturer recommendation in your vehicle handbook. However, if you’re at all unsure, pop into Mark Sawkins Automotive, and we’ll be happy to advise you.

What happens if the cambelt breaks or snaps?

If your cambelt snaps, it can cause serious and costly damage to the engine, so the best option is to have your cambelt checked at Mark Sawkins Automotive, as part of your regular car servicing, or bring it into us straight away if you notice any strange noises or a sudden decrease in engine performance.
